This is Sean at Box.net. New features for Zoho make it even easier to work with Office files right inside the browser. You can now use .docx files and even edit PowerPoint presentations. This makes the experience of creating and editing these files and (with services like Box.net), storing and sharing these files all without leaving the browser.

Sowell's rant is obviously from a position of ignorance (I worked in libraries for 27 years), or is it just another guy feeling the need to control everyone in his own image.

It is the parents' responsibility to determine what their own children read, not anyone else's to control what I or my family read. I don't have to agree with or believe in everything I see in print. Exposing people to differences is one way to encourage critical thinking.

And by the way, I don't think ALA Councilors necessarily know what they are talking about, they are just individuals with their own point of view - and agenda.

Banned Books Week is "shameless propaganda ... now institutionalized with a week of its own."

"Those who are spreading hysteria about book banning and censorship know that they are in a war, but too many of those who thoughtlessly repeat their rhetoric do not."

See who said this (not me) and more here: <a href="http://preview.tinyurl.com/sowell" title="National Hogwash Week" rel="nofollow">http://preview.tinyurl.com/sowell</a>.

Even a former ALA Councilor said:

"It also highlights the thing we know about Banned Books Week that we don't talk about much--the bulk of these books are challenged by parents for being age-inappropriate for children. While I think this is still a formidable thing for librarians to deal with, it's totally different from people trying to block a book from being sold at all."

I, myself, am a Kindle champion as well, and while this new product may be innovative, I would recommend the Kindle to anyone and everyone. Not only does it have the support of Amazon and its growing library, I think that there are a number of intangible "cost" savings and benefits to consider for any skeptics out there.

Thanks for the list of great resources. I had heard of many of them, but a few were new to me. I will definitely be using many of them in our online school <a href="http://edcsd.org" rel="nofollow">eDCSD: Douglas County Online Education</a>. Thanks again.

A good list, but one of my favorites is MonkeySee.com, which produces all of their <a href="http://www.monkeysee.com" rel="nofollow">how to videos</a> professionally. And I love Wikihow's breadth of topics, but just wish they would have a way to do videos...it feels like they're missinng out. Anyway, something tells me there's only going to be more competitors as the year goes on.

I just posted a comment on the original post that LibrarianInBlack posted on ( http://library2.usask.ca/~fichter/blog_on_the_side/2008/05/questionpro-vs-zoomerang-vs.html ) which adds surveygizmo.com to the mix for comparison. Hopefully, that will be moderated soon and be visible for the comparison.

Thank you for mentioning Palbee in your blog. We do hope it becomes more popular with educational and knowledge workers, librarians included.

Something that your readers might be interested to know is that we are planning to release a new version of Palbee towards the end of June. This version will have a new design, new layout, support up to 10 people in a live conference at the same time, and include new features both on the web site and in the video conference application itself. Make sure to check back with us when the changes are made!
