Mashable decided to choose the “coolest” web applications of 2007 instead of the geekiest or brainiest. Only applications that became available to the public in 2007 are considered in this weird category, in no particular order.

Windows Mobile 6.1 and 7.0 geared to compete with iPhone
Good news for Windows Mobile users, Ars Technica says that Microsoft is improving the portable operating system in its 6.1 release and will have some bigger changes still in Windows Mobile 7.0.
Microsoft seemed to be holding its own among competitors until the introduction of the iPhone, which has apparently exceeded Windows Mobile’s web browsing share, perhaps spawning some desirable new features for WM. Boy Genius Report has a gallery of screen shots from 6.1, but none for 7.0 yet.
