Yahoo! Pipes increases geo support

Posted by Jacque on May 3rd, 2007

pipes-logo.pngWe’ve blogged here before about Yahoo! Pipes, described by O’Reilly Radar as a graphical web-based RSS re-mixer.  Now Pipes provides a map output that plots data on a Yahoo! supplied map, and it can also export in KML (Google Earth’s Keyhole Markup Language), which means that Pipes content can be used in Google Maps and Google Earth.

When Pipes was first introduced, Google Earth Blog said, ”It enables you to easily take the output from one Internet site and feed it to another site as an input which then lets you do something new with the data.  What I am excited about is that it should be possible to include applications which can handle KML and both process and generate GE content combined with other data sources to generate really unique GE visualizations.”  Prediction apparently fulfilled, as they note in a May 3 blog post.
